Romanian Shiatsu Association
In recent years, Shiatsu therapy has become popular among international health care professionals who have integrated it into daily practice because of the scientifically proven clinical efficacy of the numerous quality studies conducted between 1998 and 2017 by Shiatsu Therapy Research Lab at Japan Shiatsu College in Tokyo, a college accredited by the Ministry of Education, Labor and Health of Japan.
Shiatsu therapy (the official Namikoshi method) is internationally recognised by the World Health Organisation and the European Union. As in other countries, the official Shiatsu therapy has also become known in Romania due to the intensive promotion activities undertaken by Mr. Lucian Olaru, the first internationally accredited Shiatsu professional therapist in Romania, who founded the professional organisation Romanian Shiatsu Association.
